What is a Discovery Trail?
A Discovery Trail is a self-guided outing with a clear starting point, a suggested route, and a final stop. You explore a compact area, collect idols along the way, and discover something about the places you pass.
The route gives the experience its shape. Expect clear directions and brief things to notice or do, rather than a series of difficult location puzzles. You follow the outing yourself using the game’s instructions on your phone.
Before you set off
Read the trail overview for its start and finish, distance, estimated duration, and opening hours. Check whether it loops back to the start or ends somewhere different. If it’s a one-way route, include the journey back in your plans.
Check access details such as steps, slopes, crossings, or indoor stops, and choose an outing that suits your group. The dates a game is available are different from the time needed to walk its trail. Give yourself enough time to reach the last stop before it closes.
How to follow the trail
Begin at the suggested start
Open the first stop and read its introduction. It should help you get oriented and explain how to collect. Playing runs in your phone’s browser; use your free account to save your finds.
Explore and collect at each stop
Look for the feature or short activity described in the instructions. Collect a physical idol by scanning its QR code, or follow the location check-in instructions for a digital idol.
Follow the directions onward
Read the guidance to the next stop and continue at a comfortable pace. The order is recommended rather than enforced, so keep track of the stop names or numbers in the instructions.
Finish with the return in mind
The last stop brings the outing to a close. Follow its directions back to the start or onward to the stated endpoint. Your collected idols remain in your personal collection.
Can you take a break or do a shorter section?
Yes. A trail is designed to make sense as one outing, but you can pause along the way. Look for suggested break points or a shorter section in the route description. Make a note of where to resume and check the remaining stops’ hours before returning.
For example, a trail might suggest visiting two stops, taking a break near a plaza, then continuing through a park to the final stops.
Stopping midway doesn’t reset the idols you’ve collected. If you join the trail at a later stop, read the overview to decide whether to head to the suggested start or explore the nearby section first. There’s no need to scan earlier idols again to keep your recorded progress.
What to expect from the experience
The exact number of idols and the outing length vary. Use the estimate supplied for the trail, and allow extra time for breaks and anything you want to explore more deeply.
Each first collection earns the points configured for that idol. Repeating it in the same game doesn’t add more points. Check the published game details for any prizes or optional business offers; reaching the final stop doesn’t automatically promise an extra prize or completion badge.
If a stop is unavailable, check for an update and follow any revised directions. You can keep your existing finds even if you need to finish another day.
