Privacy Policy

We collect account and contact information you provide, including phone number, optional email and name, public handle, avatar, and profile city/state and coordinates. Business, sponsor, and host inquiries may include your name, organization, contact information, proposed location, and message. We also keep support correspondence and participation or payment records needed to administer an agreement.

Gameplay records include games joined, invitations, idol collections and timestamps, points, bonus submissions, assigned business offers, and any recorded claim status. We collect policy acceptance records when you agree through the Services.

With browser permission, we use precise device location to check collection proximity and show your position on maps. Collection checks request a reading for that attempt; an open map may update your location repeatedly as you move. Nearby discovery also uses submitted coordinates to find relevant idols. We do not request background location when the game is closed.

GPS proof submissions include a photo, capture and submission times, available latitude/longitude and accuracy, GPS failure reason, calculated distance when available, and staff review information. Ordinary collection records and activity logs may be retained even when no proof is submitted. Camera access supports QR scanning and photos you choose to submit; we do not continuously record video.

Your public handle and game score may appear on a public leaderboard if that game enables one. Game hosts and authorized staff can access player and gameplay information needed to operate the game. Business and sponsor details supplied for publication appear on their applicable game or idol pages.

Bonus photo review records include available photo capture time and GPS coordinates, submission and review times, decisions, and messages. Capture details may be missing or edited and are shown to staff for review. Photos are stored in DigitalOcean cloud storage. Deleting a photo removes it from the app and schedules cloud deletion; review and point-adjustment records remain for audit. When you submit a bonus photo and optional caption after the upload notice, we may share them with that game’s hosts and sponsors. Find the Idol and those hosts and sponsors may use and share them on their websites and social media to promote the game and participating locations, under the permission shown during upload and the Terms of Service. GPS proof is for review, security, support, and disputes; it is not promotional content. Publicly posted content may be copied by others, and removing our copy cannot remove copies outside our control.

We use information to authenticate accounts, operate games, calculate scores, assign offers, review proof, administer prizes and agreements, respond to requests, send service messages and invitations, prevent misuse, diagnose problems, and comply with legal obligations. Marketing communications and promotional photo use follow the applicable notice and your choices. Providing a contact address for a game does not require you to subscribe to unrelated marketing.

We use providers for hosting and file storage, phone verification, email delivery, maps, and error monitoring. The application integrates DigitalOcean storage, Twilio, Mailgun, Google Maps, and Sentry where configured. Providers receive information necessary for the relevant service, such as verification phone numbers, email delivery information, map requests, uploaded files, or diagnostic events.

When you join a game, Find the Idol may share account information you have provided, including your public handle, name, city, state, and email address, with that game’s hosts and sponsors to administer the game, communicate about your participation, and support related offers. Joining a game does not automatically subscribe you to unrelated marketing from hosts or sponsors; separate permission may be required for those messages.

We also share information with a reward or prize provider when needed to verify or fulfill a claim. Joining or sponsoring a game does not give hosts or sponsors access to private GPS proof photos or precise player location history. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in a business transfer subject to applicable privacy protections.

We use browser storage for sign-in tokens, preferences, and game state. Requests may generate logs including IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and activity. Error monitoring helps diagnose failures. Clear browser storage or log out to remove local sign-in state; doing so does not erase server records.

The current application does not implement a separate response to browser Do Not Track signals. Embedded or linked services, including map providers and social networks, may collect information about your use and, under their own policies, activity across other sites. Review their controls before using those features. We do not provide sponsors with personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as part of the sponsorship package.

We retain account and collection information while needed to maintain your account and collection. Proof, gameplay, consent, support, and agreement records are retained as reasonably necessary for review, fraud prevention, disputes, legal obligations, and recordkeeping. Different records may have different retention periods; deleting an account may require retaining limited records for those purposes.

We use access controls and other reasonable safeguards. No service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.

You can edit available profile fields and revoke location or camera permissions in your browser or device settings. Some collection and map features require those permissions. Use an unsubscribe option in marketing messages where provided; necessary account and game-service messages may continue.

Email termsofservice@findtheidol.com to request access, correction, deletion, or removal of promotional content, or to ask about privacy rights available where you live. We may verify your identity and explain any lawful retention exception. Do not send identity documents or sensitive financial information until we arrange an appropriate secure method. We will respond within applicable legal deadlines.

Accounts and account-based features are for adults age 18 or older. Minors may accompany a parent or legal guardian under the Game Policies, but may not independently submit account, location, or photo information. Avoid including children or unnecessary bystanders in photos. If you believe a child submitted personal information independently, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

We publish the effective date and notify users of material privacy changes through a prominent service notice or an available account contact channel before applying materially different uses, obtaining additional permission when required.
