Give people a reason to come through the door

Someone can walk past your business many times without knowing what’s inside. A physical idol gives them a new reason to enter: there’s something here to find, collect, and remember.

In the Find the Idol game, players use the game map to visit your location, come inside, find your wooden idol, and scan its QR code. That small adventure gives you an opportunity to introduce your business to someone who might otherwise have kept walking.

Once inside, players can see your products, take in the atmosphere, look at the menu, and meet the people behind the counter.

Make the introduction feel like a discovery

Think of someone noticing a locally made gift while looking for the idol, discovering a lunch menu they didn’t know you served, or having a friendly conversation with your team. Those small moments can make your location easier to remember when they’re deciding where to shop, eat, or bring a friend.

Put the idol where your business can shine

Find the Idol makes the wooden QR-code idol and mails it to your business. Choose an easy-to-reach spot inside that gives visitors a natural chance to look around. The aim is a pleasant discovery, not a frustrating search.

Place it near something worth noticing

A featured display, a menu board, or a welcoming counter can introduce players to what you offer. Keep the idol visible and accessible without blocking shoppers or requiring access to staff-only areas.

Give your team a simple welcome

Make sure staff know where the idol is and how the game works. A friendly “Here to find the idol? Welcome in!” can open a conversation. Let players browse and collect without pressure; no purchase is needed to collect.

Use your idol page to continue the introduction

The physical option includes a customizable idol page with text, images, and links. Show what makes your location worth exploring, such as a signature product, your story, or something a first-time visitor might miss.

Add a reward that makes buying now appealing

You can add an optional business-provided reward that appears after a player collects your idol. They’ve arrived and discovered the stop; a relevant offer can give them a reason to try something while they’re there.

For example, a cafe could propose a complimentary specialty topping with a drink purchase. A shop could propose a player-exclusive $5 saving on a purchase of $15 or more. These are example ideas to discuss when arranging your participation, not offers currently available at a named business.

Choose something that introduces a product you’re proud of and makes sense for your margins. Explain exactly what the player receives, any qualifying purchase, and how to claim it. A simple offer is easier for both customers and staff to use.

Give someone a reason to come back soon

A visitor may like your business but arrive at the wrong moment to buy. They might have just eaten, be on their way somewhere, or want to return with a friend. A reward can turn that interest into a reason for a second visit.

In the standard Find the Idol game, the business reward is available for 24 hours after the scan. Plan a return-visit offer around that window and your opening hours. For example, a player who discovers your cafe in the afternoon could come back for breakfast the next morning and use an eligible reward before it expires.

Make it clear whether the offer can be used during the current visit or on a return visit, and ensure the player has a realistic opportunity to redeem it before expiration. A good experience today can also help people remember you for later visits, even after the reward has expired.

Keep the reward useful and easy to honor

Your business chooses, provides, and fulfills the reward. Find the Idol displays it and its claim instructions to the player. An optional reward can be added to the physical idol package at no additional game fee; your business covers the cost of honoring the offer.

The reward should offer meaningful value or a genuine exclusive. It must not duplicate a discount you already advertise publicly, and any purchase required to qualify must be $25 or less. Have your team review the offer and claim instructions before players arrive so everyone knows what to do.
